RESEARCH

Pinetown Boys' High School Conservation Club Homepage

Introduction

Research fulfils a fundamental role in the functioning of the conservation club.
Research enables us to identify areas of  weakness i.e. pollution etc along the
Umhlatuzana river catchment, as well as allowing us to get a clear view of the
running of other aspects of the project.

In order to define areas of weakness along the catchment six set sampling sites
have been established along its course. Water samples are collected from the sites monthly. We then conduct a series of test and experiments with the samples.
These investigations  take on two forms;

1. Solid matter tests (silt tests) and  cartography
2. GLOBE SCHOOLS PROGRAM investigations.

Results obtained through GLOBE tests are sent  to the GLOBE Webpage
where the results are used to study the environment all over the world.
