Six Set Sampling Sites
Along the course of the Uhmhlatuzana river and its tributaries we have established six set
water sampling sites. Both Globe Program Tests and silt test water samples are taken from these sites.

Silt Tests
Solid Matter Test or more simply, Silt tests are the most important of all water tests conducted in research. These tests define the amount of solid matter (silt etc) in a certain quantity of
water. These tests enable us to determine two important facts. The success of the revegatation program and areas where revegatation needs to be conducted. By monitoring the difference in silt levels between consecutive sites and there monthly fluctuations these two points are
determined.

Cartography
Cartography or more simply mapwork is
another aspect of research used to define and mark areas along the river in need of
revegatation. This allows us, with the use of a collection of orthophotos to look at the river as a whole when studying these areas of weakness.
